I see him with his laptop at the airport

𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

When I see him typing furiously
on his laptop at the airport,
while at the gate
waiting to board
I wonder what he is doing–
is he busy, or is he performing
can’t the emails wait, or maybe
he is time-saving, rather than
wasting. But he is still waiting
for the gate to open.
Perhaps he is writing a story–
and his character is dying
and so, there is urgency
to kill off someone unneeded
or needing the impact of his
death, to make sense of this
commute. And as far as he could
maybe his character would
do the same before dying–
while moving or waiting
not to die, but for the gate
to open, so they can board
before it’s too late,
or get left behind,
for nothing, or for good
and still, he is typing.
