take me back to the day

𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆

Take me to the day when I know
the skies are true,
where there be nothing but me
and you, and a whole lot of you–
on the day the picture
turned green, not with envy
but with splendours
of nature’s beauty,
when we meet in the sky
and we see eye to eye
by the wonders of the day
not with words, so we may say:
O sacred truth, lamentable fool
who are we to surrender
with our legs wide asunder–
take me back to the day
that we may stay buried
in damnable clouds forever.
